Our Activities
The St. Luke Parish Ladies Guild strives to identify and complete many projects for community outreach and to sponsor many women’s social events:
Annual Membership Breakfast – We begin the new calendar year, in September, by welcoming new and returning members to our Annual Membership breakfast. All women of the parish are invited and encouraged to join us at this event.
For Fall, pumpkins are painted and decorated then delivered to residents in local nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Support is provided to Operation Stay Warm by our donating much-needed weather resistant coats to Southington Community Services and serving as volunteers during the annual Coat Drive for the community.
Day trips are often enjoyed by members, for example, a beautiful, spiritual visit to the Shrine of Diving Mercy. We encourage all members to share their day trip ideas.
In Winter, the Guild hosts a food drive and sponsors a Christmas party for the students at St. Luke Catholic School. The St. Luke Parish’s Holiday Bazaar is a wonderful fund-raising event as well as a welcoming of the holiday season. Also, during each holiday season, the Guild members enjoy a party to celebrate the season with each other.
In Spring, we create Valentine’s Day cards and distribute them to
our homebound folks and to residents in local nursing homes.
Our Spring Pocketbook Bingo is our very poplar social and fund-raising event, which includes many creatively themed baskets for raffle. The prize for each BINGO game is a very nice, designer handbag.
Guest speakers are often scheduled at our meetings, including The Prudence Crandall Center and the AWARE Ministry.
As Summer draws near each year, our members enjoy an end-of-year dinner event where we celebrate our work and accomplishments as well as further develop our camaraderie with each other. This is always a well-attended and heartwarming social event.
The St. Luke Parish Ladies Guild members enjoy familiar events and celebrations each year and all members look forward to new events to pursue that allow our organization to grow, staying mindful of our mission statement.
We honor the faithfully departed members of our Ladies Guild with Honor Guard at their funeral.
We encourage all women of St. Luke Parish to become members of the Ladies Guild and bring their own unique talents and ideas to share.
